Happy 4th of July!
Day 3/5 of reserve (07/04/2024)
Couple days ago (07/02/2024) I was stuck in Denver and got a nice overnight out of the deal. Hotel lobby looked very jungle book:
Needed some new supplies so decided to uber to the nearest walmart. While there I saw a sign:
Flight back the next day (07/03/2024) I was sitting in the back. Experienced the joy that is "Ready Reserve" when I got back to my domicile airport. Sitting in the break room for hours on-call. Requested early release with crew support and was able to leave 10 minutes early! Unfortunately, I stained my uniform eating lunch and had to spend the afternoon finding the last one of these:
Back at the hotel I had chicken Schnitzel. My day's pay had officially disappeared. A man at the bar was trying to sell his vodka to hotel management. Unrelated, I appreciate when hotels use real plants:
Got the call at 5am again today (07/04/2024) to get to the airport in exactly 2 hours. Second time I had to get driven from the terminal to the MX hangar allll the way across the airfield. A 20 minute repositioning flight to the North. Was a good flight and good crew.
Pretty much landed, checked in with the gate agent, and walked back to the plane. First time I sat in seat 1A. Flew back for another 20 minutes to sit ready reserve, where I typed up this update.
Break room was standing room only when I first got back, found a quiet corner to have an early lunch.
Flew for 0.8 today for a total of around 1143 hours.
